Catering Planner

I remember during every Melbourne Cup in Australia which is held every first Tuesday of November most companies would pause work to watch on television or hear on radio this nationally observed horse racing event.

Most companies will held their meal parties where there would be special food prepared or bought just for the occasion.

Companies would usually search online or have a food supplier on record to ask in deciding what foods to order. The ordering, preparation and consumption of the food can get out of synch occasionally with the food supplier too busy and the delivery person running through traffic obstacles.

This results in food not being eaten in order and people pausing between eating and waiting for the next food to be delivered. I have seen people get hungry from food not being delivered on time that they have to resort to eating pantry cookies as lunch food.

The pantry, boardroom or the office itself is usually used as a makeshift dinner area with these places getting dirtied and meal garbage would pile in. Some of the employees either get assigned or volunteer to take care of the cleaning of the mess left behind by these meal parties.

I remember the office I worked for cannot find any paper plates and plastic cutlery and cups to buy and use and have to resort to using the proper dishes, cutlery and cups in the pantry. The employees do not want to clean them after they were used and the employees all felt sad to the employees who finally did it or are even angered with the management when the task was done.

I also remember that there would be much food left behind after the meal party. The usual strategy is to distribute the remainder of the foods for the employees to take home. However due to the leftover state of the food most do not bother at all. I always see leftover food remaining in the company refrigerator for days and often being left to go stale.

These are normal problems encountered when staging an ad hoc or on the spot office meal event. There must be similar events like the Melbourne Cup in Australia that people celebrate in their offices like Christmas Parties and Halloween Parties.

Usually small offices do not have dedicated people or time in their schedule to prepare for such events and it is left only up to the last minute to be planned. This is the reason why most of them are not properly executed.

Conclusion

Enterprising people can earn money by being able to mediate between food suppliers and the companies to relieve them the trouble of arranging the meal party and to just enjoy it. They can also take care of the office setup and cleanup process after the meal parties of the different companies they have as clients. They can also turn leftovers into beautiful food giveaways with the proper techniques.

Imagine doing it for most of the companies of an entire building or for an entire business district. The profit one can earn can be good.
