To Whom Do I Sell Battery Powered Stoves With Lighting And Heating?
According to the Business Research Company, an industry reports company, the global electric stoves market grew from US$ 20.4 billion from 2021 to US$ 20.91 billion in 2022 with a dismal CAGR of only 2.5%. A discouraging news right?
But there may yet be a silver lining to this seemingly gloomy industry report. It just means that maybe the market for electric stoves isn’t saturated yet and there is still a big opportunity for growth in sales.
Also, more and more electric and mechanical devices are being converted to work with batteries. This includes electric cars, SUVs and truck. From just this, we can already point to an untapped market for battery powered stoves: vehicles that can cook food offgrid.
It is to be noted also that some instant food items now come with self heating packs because many people are just too lazy to go to the kitchen and cook instant food. A battery powered stove can be used inside one’s bedroom which eliminates the need to walk to the kitchen.
WHY DO BATTERY POWERED STOVES SHOULD COME WITH LIGHTING AND HEATING FUNCTIONS ALSO?
Firstly, there is a legitimate need to make stoves more accessible and portable to the average person. People need to eat several times a day and the most fulfilling food items are the ones that are freshly cooked. Thus, we established the need for a stove that can be portable.
It also doesn’t matter if the food is home or restaurant cooked. A battery powered stove can be used in both settings. Another thing to consider is that food stands have been for a long time in need of stoves that can be lugged around especially if the food stand is located in a street.
Food stands need a portable stove, a portable means of lighting and even portable heating at times because the streets usually don’t come with an electricity supply, is dark and can be cold. They may even need a charging device.
Also, there are restaurants which includes high class types which offer both indoor and outdoor dining experience to their customers. This is because there are restaurant customers who want a comfortable outdoor dining experience.
Battery powered stoves with built-in lighting and heating can accommodate this. Cooking, lighting and heating can easily be integrated to a machine since they all provide heating. Even an electric charging feature can be added because it is battery powered.
THE CAMPING AND OFF-GRID MARKET?
Campers have long been a market for portable stoves. The portable stoves in common use at campsites are butane powered although portable battery powered electric stoves are gradually becoming popular.
The current portable stoves in the market which are butane powered or battery powered stoves are however not used in lighting and heating. Campers use separate lighting and heating devices to keep themselves lighted and warm.
That is why there is a good market for battery powered stoves which can do all three: cooking, lighting and heating. Battery powered stoves also have the advantage of being able to accept electricity from solar, wind and wave power sources.
If you would be marketing such a stove, instead of selling them in your own store or in e-commerce websites, you can also sell them at outdoor shops where outdoor equipment is sold like tents, blankets and so on. Buyers would instantly see the importance of such a stove.
You can also sell battery powered stove in camping grounds and caravan parks. Caravan Park residents and people living offgrid would also instantly see the benefits of this multipurpose stove whose main purpose is to assist people doing necessary offgrid activities like cooking.
CONSTRUCTION AND MINING MARKET?
Just like campsites, construction and mining facilities usually don’t have a kitchen for their employees. If they even have one in their facility, it would usually be a very basic setup that is ill-designed.
Just like campsites, there are construction and mining facilities that are dark at night and could even be very cold. This is especially true if the construction and especially the mining facility is located in a remote area of which most of them are.
Besides selling the portable stove online, you could also sell your battery powered stove to construction and mining equipment shops alongside construction and mining devices. You can even go as far as to sell direct to personnels located in construction and mining facilities.
Also, your portable stove with lighting and heating functions can be used to dry paint and cement in construction facilities. This is the reason why I suggested that you also sell them in construction and mining shops, because they can function as construction devices.
The lighting and heating function of the stove can be like bathroom lighting and heating lamps which can be very hot that they literally dry up paint and cement in a shorter time as compared to the normal drying time. They could also prevent equipment seizures in cold weather.
BEDSPACER MARKET?
One of the biggest problem of a bedspacer or anyone living in shared accommodation is the sharing of kitchen facilities. Usually, there is only one stove which can be used one at a time by the many tenants.
Another problem would be heating. Most bed spacing and shared accommodation facilities do not have central heating or even heating in their bedrooms. Most tenants usually have to provide for their own heating.
These are just two of the most common problem bedspacers and those living in shared accommodation have. That is why there is a demand from these renters of a stove that can be placed in their own room which could also provide heating.
Besides selling the stove online, you can especially target for example student and transient workers living in dormitories. All you have to do for example is to Google: “dormitory list” and you would be presented with listings of dormitories that you can sell to.
It’s not only the bedspacers and tenants of dormitories that you can sell to. You can also sell to the owners of these dormitories as well. There are now owners of living facilities who rent out complete facilities at a much higher price which includes cooking and heating for each room.
RESTAURANT AND FOOD STAND MARKET?
As previously stated, restaurants and food stands are always in constant need of devices that can provide cooking, lighting and heating capabilities. They’ll appreciate it even more if a single device can provide all of this.
There are even restaurants that provide their customers with cooking facilities. For example, there are Korean restaurants where you can for an extra fee have a stove in your very own table which can be used to cook barbecue or to keep hot food warm like soaps or broth.
Food stands also stand to benefit a lot from such a stove. For example, the issue of accidental fires can be eliminated because battery operated stoves don’t use flames to cook food. The same goes for lighting and heating.
As also stated, a lot of diners want a comfortable outdoor dining experience and would even gladly pay for the experience. Imagine if besides providing lighting and heating for your customers outdoors, you also provide them with a safe and comfortable outdoor cooking experience.
Again, besides selling the device online, you could also sell the device directly to restaurants and food stands especially those who provide outdoor dining experience.
HOME MARKET?
I guess at this point it is elementary to say that the battery powered stove device can also find a use in everyone’s homes despite the fact that most people would already have more robust stoves at home. The device can serve as a backup in cases of power failures & gas shortage.
It is to be noted also that just as has been said earlier, the device doesn’t need flames to provide for cooking, lighting and heating which makes it very safe to use at home especially if the house is made of wood or is fire prone.
Since the device doesn’t use flames, it also doesn’t produce smoke. It can be used anywhere in the house from one’s own kitchen to one’s own bedroom just in case they like to keep their bedroom warm while also keeping their food warm inside it by using the device.
Since the device can be used in every home, it can be marketed as a general consumer product and can be sold everywhere from brick and mortar shops to online e-commerce stores.
You can also use a marketing strategy where you sell the device door to door. This is especially useful in markets/areas where the weather is cold and people warm their food and keep themselves warm frequently.
CONCLUSION
The market growth of electric stoves is undeniably dismal although it is growing. There could be a silver lining in this seemingly bad situation. Maybe the market is not saturated yet and the product itself might be not fully mature in terms of design.
Cooking, Lighting and Heating all use the same function: creating heat. These three uses are what most consumers demand on an everyday basis especially cooking and lighting. Perhaps electric stoves need a design improvement or upgrade.
