Earning from Electricity and Gas

All our electricity was once provided by big electric utilities which required huge capital and resources to run. It is therefore difficult for a solopreneur who is just starting out to duplicate owning such huge electric utilities due to the huge cost, time and resources involved. But with the increasing technology advances in renewable energy generation the investment in cost, resources, and scale of operations have been dramatically going down.

There are small community electricity providers in India for example who use solar sources for electricity which is suited for areas with hot climates and where the sun shines more intensely at a longer time. This is more cost effective unlike using fuel or coal for example as a source for electricity. It is also environmentally friendly.

The use of electricity is increasing exponentially especially with the many electrical and now electronics equipments and devices in use. Due to the increasing cost of electricity many now generate their own electricity using renewable sources such as running water, wind and solar energy.

There are even enterprising people who sell their excess electricity to electric utilities. Please note that electrical utility providers have restrictions when you try to attach or resell your excess energy to them.

Normally heating and cooking gas is tied up with electric supply and is provided only by big companies because of the huge capital and resources involved to supply it in households. There is also the inherent danger of heating and cooking gas being very combustible and poisonous once released in the air around us.

Leaking gas have been known not only to destroy a house or building but entire blocks of houses and buildings as well. Ordinary people with limited means cannot do it except maybe in businesses who sell cooking gas in enclosed steel cylinders for retail but this also carry some risks.

Conclusion

Even though enterprising individuals may lack the capital or license/skill to become an electrician or plumber to handle such electricity and supply maintenance jobs they can still earn some money for example by selling or endorsing products and services that detect possible electricity and gas leaks.
