Dishwasher Liquid Using Vinegar and Lemon
I discovered that you could make dishwashing liquid using only white vinegar, kosher salt and lemons. There is a YouTube video by the channel “Lorella - Plan Bee Orchard and Farm” and titled “How to make all natural liquid dish cleaner to use in the dishwasher”. If you Google “dishwasher liquid using vinegar and lemon” you would encounter plenty of information of how to do it.
There are testimonials that says it is better at cleaning and is cheaper than commercially bought dishwashing liquid. The lemon and vinegar have both cleansing and anti-bacterial properties that make it ideal for cleaning almost all types of dishes, glasses and other cooking & eating utensils.
There are however a few drawbacks to it:
1. It is made of natural ingredients and would spoil. The solution is to refrigerate it so it lasts longer.
2. The lemon grits can get stuck to the cleaned dishes and glasses if you do not properly crush to a powder the lemons using a blender. Make sure you properly do so.
3. The liquid does not foam when used unlike a commercial dishwashing liquid with foaming properties. This makes it less ideal for hand dish washing.
Conclusion
I see a great potential of this product for personal and commercial use. If the problems above can be solved I can see enterprising individuals sell this commercially to people who want a more naturally based dishwashing cleaning product.
Maybe they can add a preserving agent which does away with refrigeration or even just extends the shelf life of the product more.
Maybe they can add a foaming agent to make the product more ideal for both dishwasher and hand wash.
