For The World To See

Part 1: Just Two Ordinary Sales Executives

Sandra and Amelie were successful credit card sales executives working for a large bank. They were sitting in their desks and were chatting while the rest of the staff of their department were busy working.

Sandra sipped her cappuccino coffee, “What would you be doing out tonight, Amelie?” “Nothing much, just dinner with a man from accounts who have been pestering me for months requesting for a date.”

Sandra laughed, “You took pity on a man? Don’t you know it’s against our motto?” “I know the motto of the sales office: Never let a man date you unless he first gets a credit card from our company.”

“So you would eventually sell him a credit card?” “No, but he knows of a rich executive who might get a credit card from me,” said Amelie while she applied make up.

“Don’t look now, Amelie, but that pesky mayor is here again. Don’t mind him.” “Oh, its Mayor Jones, ever since he saw you, he has been pestering you non-stop for a date. He’s a real dirty old man and is corrupt too. I wonder how he even got elected in the first place?”

Sandra shook her head, “His clan has ruled their territory for ages. Other politicians depend on them for votes. Senators, congressmen and other officials use their clan to get votes. They’re pretty popular.”

“Don’t look now, but he’s approaching us. He’s even lighted a cigar in a no smoking office.”

Part 2: The Mayor

“Good day ladies, especially to you, Sandra, you’re looking more beautifuler than ever. I wish you were my wife.” Sandra half smiled, “But you already have a wife. And she’s waiting for you back home.”

Mayor Jones laughed while scratching his head, “Ah yes, my wife. I’m indeed married but there’s no harm in looking at beautiful women such as you, Sandra. If I could bring back time, I’ll marry you instead of my wife. You’re simply too beautiful.”

“But I won’t marry you, mayor. You’re much too old for me. And even if you were young, I still won’t marry you. I’m just not interested in you.” “But I’m rich and powerful, Sandra. You can become a queen by being with me.”

Sandra grinned, “No thanks mayor, but I’m not interested in wealth or power. I’m happy just where I am.”

“Other women would jump at the chance to be my wife or even mistress, Sandra.” Sandra’s face turned red, “Mayor Jones. I am not just any girl who would be tempted with power of wealth. Especially if I have to have a relation with an old man already.”

Mayor Jones was angry, “Just because I’m old you don’t have to insult me, young lady.” “I am not insulting you Mayor Jones, you are indeed a very old man still chasing after women half your age.”

“Good day young lady, but remember this day you insulted me. One day I will make you pay. No one insults Mayor Jones and gets away with it,“ said Mayor Jones in a raised voice. Sandra smiled, “I will indeed remember this day, Mayor Jones.”

Part 3: An Important Job

Their general manager rubbed his forehead with his fingers repeatedly. Sandra and Amelie were sitting in chairs in front of his big desk. Their general manager then clasped his hands together.

“What do you have to say for yourself ladies? Mayor Jones complained about you two,” said the general manager. Sandra frowned, “But it’s him we should be complaining about. He made advances on me.”

“Be that may Sandra, you understand that he is a mayor and an important client of the bank. You should have been more tactful. The bosses are breathing down on my neck because of what you said to the mayor.”

“But I only said that he is an old man and I am not interested in him. Besides, he’s married. Would you let a pervert treat your daughter the same way, sir?” The general manager sighed, “Okay, but you’re still being disciplined by the bosses.”

“But that’s unfair, we didn’t do anything wrong,” said Sandra. The general managed half smiled, “Just cooperate for now, ladies. You wouldn’t like to lose your jobs do you?”

Amelie frowned, “What’s our punishment, boss?”

“You are to promote our credit card to Manus Resort. That is your punishment.” “But it’s a job for juniors sales executives only. It’s a backwater resort. No one would be interested in our credit cards there.”

The general manager laughed, “That’s what you think, Ever since the place was renovated, more tourists have been going there.”

Part 4: Manus Resort

Sandra and Amelie setup their booth near the beach of Manus Resort. Due to their beauty, they attracted a lot of attention from male vacationers. They were happy that at least they were meeting their sales quota.

Amelie smiled while sipping her pineapple juice, “This resort is not so bad, Sandra. The place has indeed been renovated and more moneyed tourists are vacationing here.” Sandra laughed, “You’re right Amelie, this is not a punishment from the office. It’s a reward.”

Amelie frowned, “Don’t look now, Sandra. But bad news is coming. Look up there.” “Where?” “The old man accompanied by burly guards. It’s Mayor Jones.”

Sandra became angry, “That old man again. It seems wherever I go. He’s there. He seems to be following me!” “Don’t look now. But he and his ugly bodyguards are coming right here.”

“I think I should hide, Amelie. He’ll probably pester me again.” “You can’t leave me all alone in this booth. Just ignore the mayor just like what you did before.” “Hmph, I’ll try, Amelie. I just hate seeing this old man.”

Part 5: The Threat

Mayor Jones grinned, “Hello ladies. Hello Sandra. I see that the world is a small place. We keep meeting each other. Perhaps it’s our destiny to meet.”

Amelie smiled, “It’s just coincidental, mayor. We’re just here cause where promoting our credit cards, while you are I believe in vacation?” “Yes, beautiful girl, I’m vacationing here courtesy of the invitation of my friends.”

“You also have friends in this resort, Mayor Jones? Wow, you’re really popular,” said Amelie. “Yes, the political clan that runs this area are friends of mine. You’re safe here with me ladies.” Amelie nodded her head, “Thank you for your kindness, mayor.”

“I just wish that your friend, Sandra, here would show me the same appreciation that you showed beautiful, girl.” “But she appreciates you, mayor,” said Amelie.

“She hasn’t said I word since I came.” “Good day, mayor,” said Sandra.

“At last the arrogant girl speaks.” “I am not an arrogant girl, I’m only careful with my words.” “But you are, you called me a dirty old man who only chases girls half my own age.”

Sandra sighed, “I only said that you are an old man not a dirty old man.” “But it’s what you are implying. I’m not a dumb person you arrogant girl.” “Whatever, what’s your business coming to our booth?”, asked Sandra.

“Perhaps now you would go out on a date with me after I get one of your credit cards.” Sandra frowned, “Sorry, we’re not offering a credit card for you.” Mayor Jones’ face reddened, “You flirt with other men so you can fool them to get one of your worthless credit cards. Why don’t you flirt with me, whore?”

Sandra clenched her fist, “We’re not whores and we don’t get out with dirty old men like you.” The bodyguard of the mayor tugged at the mayor, “Sir, there’s too many people watching us. It’s bad for your image. You could get in trouble.” Mayor Jones pointed at Sandra, “You have never seen the last of me you whore. I’ll teach you a lesson soon.”

Part 6: Cornered

Sandra and Amelie were lying in the bed of their beach hut. They were laughing as they remembered how the mayor and his men were the laughing stock of the tourists who heard their conversation before.

Sandra smiled, “One thing about that mayor though, he’s persistent even though I said no to him several times already.” Amelie laughed, “That’s because you’re so beautiful, Sandra. You drive men crazy with your beauty.”

“Amelie, someone’s knocking at the door, did you get room service or order anything?“ “No, Sandra, I didn’t order anything or request room service. Who could that be this late at night?”

“Look out the door peephole to see who is it, Amelie. It could be something important.” “I’ll look, Sandra. But it’s really seems strange that someone is knocking this late at night.” When Amelie looked at the door peephole, her face turned pale.

“It’s the mayor and his men,” shouted Amelie. Sandra shouted at the door, “Get out of here, mayor. I don’t want to see or talk to you.” There was silence for a while, then they heard the door being broken down.

Mayor Jones shouted, “You two whores can’t hide from me. My men would soon break this door down!”

Sandra became scared, “What do you want, mayor?” “I want you, Sandra. You can’t deny me this time. In case you’re wondering, there’s no one around your hut. There’s no one here to help you.”

Sandra shouted at Amelie, “Quick, Amelie. Use everything we can use as a barricade so the door won’t open.” “The only thing we can use as a barricade is this bed. Even it won’t hold for long!” “Let’s block the door with the bed anyway. We have no choice.” Mayor Jones was laughing from outside the door, “It’s no use ladies, just surrender to me.”

The mayor was laughing as his men finally broke down the door and removed the bed blocking their path, “What are you doing ladies with your hands raised? Are you surrendering to me already?”

The mayor noticed that the women were holding mobile phones pointed at him and his men, “What are you doing with your mobile phones ladies?” Sandra was fuming, “We filmed you and your men breaking the door of this hut.”

The mayor knew what was going on, “Give me your mobile phones. I want you to delete your films.” “No, we won’t mayor. We have recorded you on video and we are live now. All our friends have seen you and your men breaking down the door.”

“I don’t care. Men, get this ladies!” “But you should care. You and your men are on video and this video is being distributed as we speak. If something happens to us, you would be arrested. I suggest that you and your men leave this hut.”

Part 7: The News

The general manager tapped his hand at his desk while Sandra and Amelie were sitting in chairs in front of his desk.

“I’m sorry ladies for putting your lives in danger. We shouldn’t have booked you in such a desolate place in the resort. But besides this, please accept our apology for not listening to you when you warned us that the mayor was indeed an evil person.”

Sandra smiled, “Apology accepted, boss. But what happens to the mayor now?” The general manager smiled, “Well, ever since your video went viral, he’s being investigated for various crimes. Besides our company’s court case against him, he’s being sued for corruption and embezzlement as well.”

Amelie was puzzled, “Isn’t it he’s politically connected and protected from the law?” The general manager laughed, “Ever since your video, no one wants to be associated with him. His cronies have dropped him like hot potato. Even his wife is divorcing him.”

Amelie smiled, “Now let’s talk about our raise, boss.” “What do you mean raise?” “Well, it was you who almost put us in danger.” The general manager sighed while Sandra and Amelie laughed.
