Regret Is Forever

Part 1: The Crush

Mark, who was a teenager, was eating at the school cafeteria when Ellen and her friends arrived and sat on a table close to him. Mark’s heart jumped with joy at the sight of Ellen. He had always had a big crush on her ever since he saw her.

Mark can’t explain it, but somehow he felt that Ellen was the woman he wanted to be with all his life. Ever since he met her, there were many times when he daydreamed of starting a family with her.

Part 2: The Friend

He was still looking at Ellen and daydreaming of a happy life with her when someone sat in the table he was sitting in. “What are you thinking, man?”, asked the teenager who just sat in the table of Mark.

“What do you want, Ben?”, asked the irritated Mark to the teenager who just sat in his table. “Nothing, man,” said Ben, “I just saw you eating all alone. I thought maybe you want some company.”

“I don’t want company, Ben,” said Mark who was visibly irritated.

Part 3: An Intimate Talk

“Oh, I see,” said Ben, “Ellen is here. That’s why you don’t want to be disturbed.” “I’m not looking at Ellen,” said Mark, “I’m looking at all the girls and not only at Ellen.” “Rumor in campus is that you have a crush on Ellen,” said Ben.

“I don’t have a crush on Ellen,” said Mark, “She’s just a looker, that’s all.” “Is that so?”, said Ben, “Rumor in campus is that she has a crush on you.” “Really?”, said Mark, “Ellen has a crush on me?”

“Yeah,” said Ben, “many of her friends are saying that she has a crush on you. Do you have a crush on her?” Mark became quiet, he doesn’t want to admit that he has a crush on Ellen.

“I-I don’t know,” said Mark, “I don’t know if I really have a crush on her.” “Then you won’t mind if I talk to her, do you?”, asked Ben. “S-Sure,” said Mark, “go ahead. I won’t mind.”

Part 4: Just Looking From A Distance

Ben approached Ellen and her friends. Soon, there was loud laughter in Ellen’s table as Ben entertained her and her friends. Mark can’t do anything but look at them with envy in his eyes. Somehow, he felt that he has just lost to Ben.

Part 5: Seniors

It’s been a long time since the scene in the school cafeteria. Ben and Ellen are celebrating their golden anniversary while Mark has remained a bachelor all his life. It always pains him when he sees the happy faces of Ben and Ellen happily enjoying the company of each other.
